Most hosting companies offer some kind of traffic stats program such as Webalizer, AWstats, etc. and those are ok at tracking your traffic, but are by no means your best option. I have relied heavily on AWstats which is offered with most Cpanel hosting accounts in the past but I’m going to suggest you use Google’s Analytics on your directories. It is by far more robust and produces very nice graphics. Google Analytics also allows you to let other people to check out the stats by sending them their own personal login info. This is great because you’d probably never want to give an interested buyer your sites master login details just to check traffic stats.
So you should set up a Google Analytics account (which is free) and grab the code and paste it into the footer of whichever script you’re using. Do this from day one so you can show your traffic growth.
