I’ve given up looking on many occasions because I was too frustrated… Imagine someone who is new to the web that is not familiar with the standard locations where the “Submit Your Site” links usually are. So make your offers visible and clear!
Your “Add Your Link”, “Submit Your Site”, “Add Your Business” links should be clearly located at the top and bottom of your directory. Don’t stop there though. You want to make your offer stand out. People need a good reason to click a link, fill out a form and wait to hear back. So create an irresistible offer and make it prominent.
Instead of relying on the usual text links most directories have you should create some graphics to advertise your directory listing offer. See the image below.
Place the graphic(s) in your header or sidebar so they are clearly visible. You want them to stand out and have a call-to-action.
