That is why you should make
it as easy as possible for other people to link to you and offer alternatives to just the regular text
link.
I create 80×15 graphic buttons
webmasters can use that are small and discreet to place on their site. I also offer to place the link myself in case
I’m dealing with a website owner who doesn’t know how to edit their site
themselves. Usually it takes 5 minutes
to help them and you get your backlink.
There are a couple places
online where you can create small button graphics for free if you don’t want to
do it yourself in a graphics editor. Check out:
Adding a form field to your
footer or sidebar where people can easily grab code to add your link to their
site is a good idea. And be sure to host the image for them! It’s a pain for webmasters to save a graphic to their computer, upload to their host and then edit the html you gave them to point to their own graphic. Also be sure to have hot-linking enabled in your control panel. It should be enabled by default. This will allow other webmasters to host your graphic on their site.
