Now you can customize your directory’s template so that it not only looks unique to visitors but also the search engines that will soon spider it. Indexu comes with one main template but they also offer a variety of templates you can download for free that work great (They are in the client area where you download the script after purchase). You just have to download and install them into your templates folder and activate them in the admin section under templates.

Indexu’s template system is very robust. There are template files for every aspect of the directory and it’s pretty confusing if you’re new to seeing all the files. After working with Indexu I’ve come to know which files to edit right away and others you never need to bother with.

The main template files you need to edit are as follows:

header.html

footer.html

index.html

browse.html (controls the category pages)

detail.html (controls the detail pages)

search.html (controls the search page)

sidebar1.html (sidebar used on the homepage)

sidebar2.html (sidebar used on the category & detail pages)

rows.html (controls the way the listings look on the category pages)

There are also several email templates you should customize. You should list some advertisements in your email templates because whenever someone registers or submits a website they automatically get an email from you. Putting more info in the email templates is a great way to let people know of other offers, specials, discounts, etc. This should be something simple after the email body such as:
